The WACO Warriors saw their season end yesterday in the UNI-Dome. Fourth ranked WACO was taking on 3rd North Tama in the Class A semifinal. WACO had an early opportunity with an interception on the game’s opening drive by Justin Freyenberger and a 22-yard run from Spencer Shepherd put the Warriors inside the 15, but the play was called back because of a penalty. North Tama was able to force the Warriors to punt. The Redhawks would score two touchdowns in the first half. The Warriors put together a drive late in the second quarter getting inside the North Tama redzone but the Redhawks were able to stop them on fourth down. North Tama stopped the Warriors on the opening drive of the second half and were able to score two more touchdowns in the second half including a hook and latter to the quarterback Brendon Beurm who went 77 yards for the touchdown. Beurm had thrown a screen pass to a receiver then followed the throw and the receiver pitched it back to him. The final score ended up being 28-0. The Redhawks improve to 13-0 on the season while the Warriors end the season 12-1.

In the other semifinal game number one ranked Madrid beat Gehlen Catholic LeMars 32-21. So Madrid makes their eighth championship game appearance. The Tigers have won it once that was back in 1991. Madrid faces North Tama on Friday at 2-pm for the Class A title.
