Fire at Historic State Theater in Downtown Washington

Washington Fire Chief Tom Wide tells KCII that there was a report of fire and smoke in the upper level of the State Theater in Downtown Washington.  He tells us that the cause of the fire was from a discarded cigarette in a projection room trash can.

Services for 71 year old Ronald Brinning of Bettendorf, formerly of Washington will be held 10:00 am today at the Bettendorf Presbyterian Church.  Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm today at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington prior to graveside services at Elm Grove Cemetery.  A memorial has been established to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House and Camp Wyoming.

Description: The Washington Free Public Library is hosting a fun, interactive family event called \”A Quest in Storyland\” on Friday November 19th from 6:30 – 8 pm. Various areas of the library will be transformed into settings from some of the most popular books that live in the library. . .Neverland, Hogwarts, and Narnia and kids and their parents will be able to interact with some of the characters from those books as they try to figure out what to do for the good of Storyland. The event is open to everyone of any age, but may be best suited for kids and their parents from kindergarten to about 6th grade. As always it\’s free!

Celebration of Life Services for 92 year old Lorene Crone of Washington will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday (11/19) at the Jones – Eden Funeral Home. Visitation will begin 12:00 p.m. Thursday at the Jones – Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Hospice of Washington County, West Chester United Methodist Church and the United Presbyterian Home.
