Description: Washington United Methodist church invites the public to celebrate the beginning of Advent on Nov 28 with the Hanging of the Greens. At all three worship services the traditions explaining evergreens, Christmas trees, candles, holly and ivy, nativity scenes and poinsettias will be explained as it relates to the birth and reign of Jesus Christ. Worship is at 7:45, 9 and 10:30 AM. The public is welcome.

Description: On Saturday December 11th from 4:30 pm to 7pm the Ainsworth Fire and First Responders will hold their annual soup supper at the Ainsworth Fire Station on Highway 92 in Ainsworth. Three kinds of soup, relishes, dessert and drink will be offered. This event is free will donation.

Description: The Ainsworth Opera House in Ainsworth will be hosting one of the world\’s largest displays of the nativity open for the public Friday and Saturday December 3rd and 4th and 10th and 11th from 10am to 8pm. and Sunday December 5th and 12th from 1 pm to 5pm. Over 2,000 different nativity scenes will be shown from over 100 counties. Each nativity is identified with country, year, and special features. Special tours for groups outside regular hours can be arranged by calling Michael Zahs at 319-653-6520. Duplicate nativity scenes are offered for sale, with all proceeds helping maintain the Opera House. A $5 minimum donation is requested to view the display.

Memorial Services for 47 year old Cindy Peiffer of Tempe, Arizona will be 11am Saturday at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman.  Burial will be at a later date.  Visitation is from 10am until service time on Saturday at the Powell Funeral Home.
