The team that ended up the district champs in the Demons’ district, will be playing for the state championship. The Class 3A semifinal games were played in the UNI-Dome yesterday. Demon district team, Solon beat Pella 26-14. Solon has won the 2A title the last three years and in getting to the championship game they beat last year’s 3A runner up. The Spartans will face Sioux City Bishop Heelan. Heelan beat Harlan in the quarterfinals and yesterday beat West Delaware 42-35. Solon and Heelan will meet Saturday in the dome.

Also yesterday the 2A semifinals were played, and it was a couple of lopsided games. Iowa City Regina, the team that beat Sigourney-Keota in the quarterfinals, beat North Fayette 35-7. So Regina moves on to the title game where they will play North Polk. North Polk beat Sheldon 42-0. The 2A title game will be played on Saturday as well.
