How good was 3A District 6, the district the Demons played in? Well it produced the 3A state champion. All four district teams won their opening round games so they ended up having to play each other. Solon, who won the district, reached the semifinals and beat Pella, and then on Saturday won big over Sioux City Bishop Heelan 45-7. The Spartans have now won four straight state titles. Three in 2A and now one in 3A. In Class 2A, Iowa City Regina the team that beat Sigourney-Keota in the quarterfinals, won the title beating North Polk 21-0. In 1A, West Lyon beat Dike-New Hartford 42-0. In Class A, North Tama, the team that beat WACO in the semifinals, beat Madrid 43-34. In Eight Man, Armstrong-Ringstead beat Lenox 42-33. In 4A, Dowling Catholic came from down 10 in the 4th quarter to force overtime and win against City High 38-31.
