The fourth ranked Sigourney-Keota Cobras were hosting the Camanche Indians and it was the Indians who struck first. The Indians came in with only two losses on the season, while the Cobras were unbeaten. On the second play of the game Camanche wing back Bret Johnson took a jet sweep 75 yards for a touchdown and it was 7-0 early. The Cobras would respond on a touchdown drive of their own to tie it up. Later a key play as the Cobras were driving and had it at around midfield there was a fumble and it look like Camanche was going to recover but some how the Cobras came up with it, that was big because it ended up being a touchdown drive. Another big play came late in the first half, the Cobras were driving and were stopped deep on Camanche’s side of the field but the first play by the Indians was a long pass down the right sideline that was picked off by Tanner McLanahan who returned it to the Indian 30 and the Cobras were able to score before halftime. S-K was up 27-7 at halftime. They’d continue to roll in the second half as they’d win 48-22, and it actually wasn’t as close as it looked, the Indians scored a couple of late touchdowns. Andrew Utterback, the Cobras leading rusher who was out last week with a sprained knee, was back in the line up last night and rushed for 258 yards and scored five touchdowns. S-K Head Coach Mark Shilb says he could tell the kids were excited to have him back in the line up. Mark Waechter added a couple of late touchdowns for the Cobras. So Sigourney-Keota improves to 11-0 and they will next face number one ranked Iowa City Regina who beat Mediapolis 59-0 last night. S-K and Regina will play next Monday in Sigourney and you’ll be able to hear the game right here on the one to count on KCII we’ll be on the air at 6:45 with the pregame and a 7:00 kickoff.
