The Veteran’s Day activities this year will begin at 9A.M. at the Washington County All Veteran’s Memorial. Following the ceremony, there is a meeting at the Blair House at 10:30 with the American Legion Honor Guard to render a salute to Veterans at 11:00. In the afternoon, the American Legion and the F-Troop Historical Society members will be visiting both the United Presbyterian Home and Halcyon House to honor American Veterans and their families. At 6:00 the organizations will be hosting a dinner at the Iowa Army National Guard Readiness Center in Washington. Following the meal, the speaker for the evening will be Chaplain William Kneemiller. Chaplain Kneemiller will be sharing his experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan and the impact that Military Chaplains have on the lives of deployed troops. These programs are offered at no charge and are open to the public.
