The Washington Demon girls basketball team kicks off the season tonight as they go on the road to face the Eddyville-Blakesburg Rockets. The Demons took part in the Mid-Prairie Jamboree Friday in which they scrimmaged Highland for a half. Highland won 34-31. Head Coach Phil Long felt the girls looked pretty good except they had some problems at the charity stripe missing ten free throws. Last year the Demons beat the Rockets 67-20 with a senior dominant team, Long says when you have a game like that it doesn’t help prep for this year because the Demons didn’t allow them to do what they wanted on offense. The Demons have four key returners in Jenna Krebs, Sydney Greiner, Regan Enfield, and Lauren Vittetoe, after that it will be a lot of new faces. You’ll be able to hear tonight’s season opener on the one to count on KCII and online at kciiradio.com just click on Radio Plus. We’ll be on the air around 7:10 with the pre-game show.
