The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks were at West Branch for a boy-girl conference doubleheader, and the Bears ended up with the sweep. In the girls game West Branch won 48-36 and controlled things much of the way. Erika Murphy led the Golden Hawks with 7 and Mariah Swartzendruber had 5. Afterward Mid-Prairie Head Coach Marc Pennington said they knew the Bears would be strong, but he felt they’d play better, they just haven’t had that consistent leadership of who is going to step up when they need it. He says they have had girls answer the call at times but it hasn’t been consistent so far. Mid-Prairie falls to 2-2 and 2-1 in the conference.

The Golden Hawk boys also lost last night, this one was close until late in the third when West Branch was able to pull away and the Bears won 68-48. For Mid-Prairie Micheal Aldaman had 19, Christian Swartzendruber finished with 13 and Jaemin Powell had 12. The Golden Hawks suffer their first loss of the season and are now 2-1 and 0-1 in the conference.
