The Washington Demon girls basketball team has gone into the Christmas Break with a 6-2 overall record and 2-1 conference record. Now over the break Head Coach Phil Long says they intend to practice next week after Christmas and they don’t plan on scrimmaging another school. Long says many of the other coaches are teachers and prefer to scrimmage in the morning, but he says his work this time of year doesn’t allow that. The Demons will pretty much just have next week, because after New Years they are back in action on that Tuesday when they host Ottumwa. The game against Ottumwa was originally scheduled for December 11th but was postponed because of weather. Long feels that might have been a blessing because they’ll get a non-conference game in before they travel to Mount Pleasant on the seventh. Originally the Mount Pleasant game was going to be their first out of the break.
