The Demon basketball teams opened their conference season with a sweep, on the road, over the Fairfield Trojans. In the girls game, the Demons jumped out to an 18-2 lead in the first, but then were called for a ton of fouls which allowed the Trojans to pull within 10 at halftime. It was 37-27 at the break. In the second half for much of it, it was a case of Fairfield pulling within eight and then the Demons getting it back out to an 11 or 13 point lead, that happened a few times. The closest the Trojans were able to get in the fourth was five but the Demons ended up winning 59-51. Lauren Vittetoe led the way with 16 and had a three. Sydney Greiner had 13 and Jenna Krebs had 8. The Demons are now 3-1 and 1-0 in the conference. Fairfield was led by Sidney Baumann with 19 and Serena Ward with 19. They fall to 1-5 and 0-2 in the conference.

In the boys game the Demon press and zone defense caused problems for the Trojans as Washington won by twenty. It was 10-8 at the end of the first quarter and 25-16 at halftime. Washington came out in the third quarter and held the Trojans to just three points in the quarter and out scored them 12-3. Washington won 50-30 and improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference. F airfield falls to 0-5 and 0-2 in the conference. The Demon boys are off until next Friday when they host Keokuk.
