The Washington Demon basketball teams hosted West Branch for a boy-girl doubleheader and came away with split on the night. It was Coaches vs. Cancer night for the Demons with both Demon teams sporting pink uniforms. In the girls game, Demon Head Coach Phil Long says they knew they were facing a team that preferred to run and score in transition, but it was Washington who was able to get some easy buckets with some fast breaks. The Demons won 61-52. For Washington Sydney Greiner had 19, Lauren Vittetoe 16 and Johannah Vittetoe. The Demons improve to 5-2 overall.

In the boys’ game, the Demons faced a team that had a lot of size and were very athletic. West Branch won 63-43. For the Demons Kyle Roder had 12 points, Anthony Ossman 7, and Colton Covington and Nic Williams each had four. Now the Demons will face Fort Madison in a varsity doubleheader tomorrow here in Washington.
