Last week, the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) required Alliant Energy to refund customers approximately $5 million.  Alliant Energy Spokesman Ryan Stensland says the refund is based off increased rates from March.  He says the IUB decided Alliant’s rates were too high which prompted the refund.  Stensland says at this time he does not know how the refunds will be given, will be distributed or how much the refund will be.  He says Alliant will learn more when the written order from the IUB is received in January and for now, customer rates will be holding steady.  Alliant Energy serves more than 11,000 customers in Washington County.
