As a part of the Iowa Great Places Designation that Fairfield received in 2006, the Iowa Arts Council is now collaborating on a project called the Iowa 2020 Project. Rustin Lippincott with the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center says it is highlighting the six Iowa great places. Lippincott says the idea of it is to redefine the roll of the arts and integrate it with the community. He says this will culminate in the next year with Robert Bluestone of Iowa 2020 who was in Fairfield on Friday and Saturday. Lippincott says Bluestone met with cultural leaders over the weekend, he says this will kick off an initiative to revitalize the arts and culture in Fairfield and make it a part of people’s everyday lives. He says they will be taking a strategic look next on how they can make Fairfield a better place to live, work and visit.
