The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has set their priorities for the 2011 legislative session. Kevin Baskins with the Iowa DNR says two of their proposals are ones that have been before the legislature before. The first one is to revise the boating while intoxicated blood alcohol level to point .08 to be consistent with other motor vehicles in Iowa. He says a person out on the water would be legal at .10 but if they took off in their car they would be illegal. The other proposal that they are focusing on is regulating baiting and feeding of wildlife. He says their primary concern with this is the chronic wasting disease in deer. He says their concern is if you congregate wildlife in one place, the likelihood of disease spreading is that much greater. One other advantage to this legislation would be to reduce the risk of traffic collisions with deer.
