Yesterday the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors set a $5 permit fee for anyone who wants to buy a pistol or revolver. Board member Richard Reed says it’s to cover some of the expenses the Sherriff has to deal with related to doing a past criminal review on anyone wanting to buy a pistol or revolver. The board also denied the Appletree Farm Subdivision again, hired two new Public Health Employees and changed their sick leave policy for secondary road employees. Jefferson County Offices will also be closed on Friday for Christmas Eve.
