The Jefferson County Board of Supervisors recently decided to set a fee for a cancellation of a sheriff sale. Supervisor Richard Reed says there is quite a bit of paper work involved with putting on a sheriff sale and some sales are posted and then there is a cancellation. Reed says that has happened to one property five times before a sheriff sale ever happened. There is a cost to the county so they put a minimum $50 fee on a cancellation. He says they want to make people more organized before they put something up for a sheriff sale.
