The Kalona Public Library is seeing more users then ever before. Director of the Kalona Public Library Anne Skaden says the numbers have been growing since the new library opened in 2005. But for some reason the numbers have gone up dramatically in the last year, she says some of it has to do with the economy. The amount of materials they circulate went up almost ten percent. Library visits have also increased by almost ten percent. She says a recent study by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation discovered that Library use went up dramatically all over the nation. They found a lot of people came into the library to use the computers for different reasons. The Kalona Public Library also recently increased their hours Monday thru Thursday 9:30am to 8pm, Friday 9:30am to 5pm and Saturday 9:30am to 3pm.
