The Washington County Riverboat Foundation recently announced its fourth quarter city grant awards, and the city of Kalona received a little over $32,000. City Administrator Ryan Slabaugh says they are tagging the money for the downtown revitalization project as well as a small portion of a contribution they make to the Kalona Historical Society. Since the inception Kalona has received almost half a million dollars. Slabaugh says with out the WCRF’s assistance they wouldn’t have been able to redo the downtown. The City received almost $137,000 in 2010 from the Riverboat Foundation.
