Louisa County Sheriff’s department is reporting that around 3:50pm yesterday they received a call of a man assaulting a woman in a motor vehicle north of Grandview. A short time later a deputy located the vehicle and pursued it in a chase that reached over 90 miles per hour. The chase went into Muscatine County on Hwy 61 and ended on Pettibone and 57th Street when the driver of the fleeing vehicle lost control and crashed into a ditch.

The driver, 24 year old David Cody Puckett, of Muscatine was arrested on charges of Felony Eluding, 3rd Degree Kidnapping, Aggravated Domestic Assault, Violation of a No Contact Order, Driving while Barred, OWI, Interference with Official Acts, Reckless driving and No Insurance. Puckett was taken to the Louisa County Jail and is being held on a $39,000 bond.

The female victim was taken by ambulance to Trinity Hospital in Muscatine. Her name is being withheld because of the domestic crime. Louisa County Sheriff’s Department, Wapello Police Department, Columbus Junction Police Department, Muscatine County Sheriff’s Department, Muscatine Police Department, Fruitland Fire Department and Muscatine Ambulance all assisted in the incident.
