Today is New Year’s Eve and many people like to ring in the New Year with alcohol. Washington Police Chief Greg Goodman says if you attend a party where drinks are served, to not drink and drive or have a designated driver if you feel you have had too much to drink. He says if you should see an impaired driver, you are to call 911 and to give the other driver plenty of room. He also says to avoid confrontation with the other driver if possible. Goodman says when you call the dispatch center, they will ask you for other information like the license plate number, direction of travel and if there are other violations happening because it is passed along to law enforcement officers. Goodman says if an officer can get a drunk driver off the road before something bad happens, everyone is better off.
