During the winter, frozen precipitation could come at any time. Alliant Energy Spokesman Ryan Stensland says if you should lose power because of an ice storm, there are some steps to help you get your power restored faster. He says they have an automated system to help provide them with real-time data on where an outage could be or where there might be problems. Stensland says that during an outage, to be cautious when using any candles, not to use your oven for heat, and to crack a window in a room if you use a fireplace to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. He reminds everyone that they will get power restored as soon as they safely can.
