The City of Richland in Keokuk County has lifted the boil advisory for its drinking water system.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources reports that testing of the repaired system after it was flushed indicated no bacteria in the water, meaning residents can once again use tap water for drinking and cooking.
A boil advisory was issued Wednesday, December 15, when a major water main break caused the water system to lose pressure. Once pressure has been lost in a water system, there is potential for bacterial contamination.
