The Washington Police Department has two officers who have graduated from the Police Academy. Shamus Altenhofen and Seth Adam graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in Johnston yesterday. According to Rhonda Hill with the Washington Police Department Administrative Services, both officers received a degree in Criminal Justice from the Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa prior to joining the Washington Police force. Hill says the officers began their 13-week training in September. Altenhofen has been with the Police Department for close to a year while Adam has just joined the force. Both new officers have been invited to the City Council meeting next Wednesday for a formal introduction to the public.
