Wellman residents will be getting new water and gas meters that will allow officials to take readings without even having to get out of their car. The City Council approved the purchase of the new meters at their meeting, Monday. City Administrator Dave Ross says these new meters will have radio read capabilities which will allow them to take readings as they drive down a street. Ross says they should have the new meters in the city by next summer. He says the purchase will not require an increase in rates. According to Ross the council also discussed and took action to replace the 12 year old city financial software program. Ross calls it a move out of the dark ages.
