Yesterday morning, an auto accident occurred in the Kalona area. The Washington County Safety Center reports that at approximately 8:30 yesterday morning, they received multiple 911 reports of an accident with injuries. The accident occurred a quarter of a mile south of Kalona on Highway 1. According to the Safety Center, the callers reported that one vehicle had been rear-ended and that another vehicle had rolled over. Two people were transported from the accident scene and were taken to University Hospital in Iowa City. Personnel from Kalona First Responders, Kalona Fire Department, Washington County Ambulance, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa State Patrol all responded to the scene. The accident is under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Charges are pending and KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
