Crews battled an early morning fire at a lumber business just south of Kalona. Four fire departments dealt with near zero wind chills at Nisly Wood Products.

The business’ owner, Bonnie Nisly says the fire was discovered sometime before 6 am this morning. According to Nisly, the building housed their saw, notcher, grinder and other equipment and everything was destroyed. Nisly Wood Products manufactures palettes and skids. The Kalona, Wellman, Riverside and Washington Fire Departments along with Kalona First Responders and Washington County Ambulance responded. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
