The Washington County Local Emergency Planning Committee held their monthly meeting last week. During the meeting, the group viewed a presentation on the Wireless Emergency Notification System. This system allows for communication to residents using different methods including TTD, text and voice messages, email messages and paging services. Washington and Keokuk County Emergency Management Coordinator Larry Smith made a recommendation that Washington County Hospital and Clinics to seek approval for funding for this system. He also recommended the group seek partnerships to share in future expenses of this system. The next meeting of the Washington County Local Emergency Planning Committee will be February 18th in the Robert Nicola (nickel-uh) Conference Room at Washington County Hospital and Clinics.
