Washington High School is considering offering college classes. Washington Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen says they would be offering a college credit class to be taught with Kirkwood Community College. He says this would only happen if it is a class that is not normally taught and if there is a demand of at least 10 for the class. Dr. Jorgensen says a high school teacher would then be allowed to teach that class for one quarter in a school year. He says the curriculum is provided by Kirkwood, the school district pays for the class, and the state reimburses the school district. Dr. Jorgensen says this creates a win win situation for everybody. He notes this program would start next school year.
