Girls basketball postseason getting close

The pairings for the girls basketball postseason have been released. The Washington Demons will start on the road but have a chance to play at home. The Demons will play at Solon to open on February 16th. The winner of that game comes to Washington to play the winner of Centerville and Fairfield. Those two teams play in Centerville. On the other side of the bracket Fort Madison plays Keokuk and the winner of that plays the winner of Davenport Assumption and Mount Pleasant.

In 2A, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks will make the short trip over to Highland to face the Huskies. Golden Hawk Head Coach Marc Pennington says sometimes it seems the postseason can turn into a mini conference tournament, he prefers seeing different teams. He says this year’s grouping the Golden Hawk girls don’t have any conference schools in their bracket which he likes. Elsewhere in 2A, Columbus goes on the road to play Central Lee,

In 1A, Sigourney heads to Keota, Winfield-Mount Union hosts New London. IMS is at WACO with the winner playing Lone Tree. Class 1A games begin February 10th.
