Several area schools have been putting on Coaches vs. Cancer events this winter to raise money for the American Cancer Society and promote awareness. The Highland basketball teams recently put one on when they hosted Mediapolis and the event raised 44-hundred dollars. Also the Washington Demon wrestling team and the Washington Mat Backers put on Taking Down Cancer, a similar event. On that night 22-hundred dollars was raised from donations alone. They also sold shirts and cookies, plus area youth wrestlers went out and got pledges for donations for every pins they get this season. They’ll know the final tally on that at the end of the youth season.
