The number of motorists killed on Washington County highways last year is down from 2009. The Washington County Safety Center says for all of 2010, there were only three people killed in accidents. In 2009, five people were killed and only 3 were killed in both 2007 and 2008. The Safety Center says the preliminary number of fatalities for last year in Iowa was 384 which is up 13 over 2009, down 28 from 2008 and is much lower than 2007. The Safety Center wants to remind everyone that wearing your seat belt is the best defense in being saved in an accident.
