During Monday’s meeting of the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors, the board considered a proposal to refuse the renewal of vehicle registrations for customers who have delinquent mobile home taxes.  Supervisor Richard Reed says the county treasurer came up with the idea because they have about $30,000 in back taxes for mobile home registration, and they don’t have any leverage to collect those taxes.  Reed says they will soften the blow to the people who have back taxes by helping them out with a payment plan.  He says the proposal would only affect about 20 people, but they would be able to collect the back taxes due to them.  The proposal was approved by the board in their meeting.
