The Lake Darling Youth Center recently celebrated a big anniversary. Board President Jerry King says the camp was first envisioned in 1950 by the Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist and Conservationist Ding Darling along with two other men as a place for people to stay after the creation of Lake Darling. King says after 60 years, they are still growing and have a waiting list to get into the camp. He says they currently serve between 1200 to 1400 campers a year and many different groups make up those numbers. King adds they offer week-long camps all through the summer and if you would like more information, you are asked to contact the Lake Darling Youth Center.
