The Battle of Shiloh by Thure de Thulstrup

The Washington County Historical Society is presenting the next in the Edna Jones Lecture Series.  Jim Stephens with the Historical Society says they will be offering a presentation about local soldiers who fought at the Battle of Shiloh in the U.S. Civil War.  Stephens says Company C, from the 8th Iowa Volunteer Infantry Regiment from Washington fought in a battle where many were killed, wounded or captured.  He says the heroism of those in Company C may have helped save the Union.  Stephens says anyone attending is encouraged to bring Civil War memorabilia to be displayed and discussed during the meeting.  This program will be at 2:00 today on the second floor of the Washington Public Library.
