Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. This holiday went into effect in 1986 and was signed into law by President Reagan in 1983. This holiday is in honor of the famous civil rights leader born in 1929. With today being a Federal holiday, all government office and Post Offices will be closed.  Some schools will also be closed in observance of the holiday as well. Many businesses will be open, but you are advised to check before leaving. If Dr. King were alive today, he would have been 82 years old.
