The Board of Supervisors have passed a resolution for the purchase of land in construction sites. During yesterday’s meeting, County Engineer David Patterson shared that the county could purchase land to be used in a construction site if it is warranted. He says the price per acre would vary based on the corn suitability rate of the ground. All Supervisors approved to pass the resolution to purchase land at no more than approximately $8500 per acre. This price needs to be established because of an 18% increase in land value in the county. Also during their meeting, the Board of Supervisors discussed an agreement with Keokuk County on the sharing of a Secondary Roads Engineer. This agreement would be on a temporary basis until Keokuk County can replace Christy Van Buskirk who is leaving to work for the Iowa Department of Transportation. The Supervisors will take action regarding this agreement during the regular meeting next Tuesday.
