Like many cities in Iowa, the city of Riverside is having to deal with the new weapons law that went into affect on January first. Riverside City Administrator Tina Thomas says they received a report from Sheriff Jerry Dunbar. He says that they need to pass a resolution instead of an ordinance. The Council had created an ordinance to keep guns out of city buildings. Thomas says they decided to table the ordinance until their next meeting on January 17th so she can look into the differences between an ordinance and a resolution and be able to talk to the city attorney. The council hopes to take action at their next meeting.
