The Washington City Council met last night and as part of their meeting, they held a public hearing to discuss the Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvement Project. They also set a resolution for approving the plans, specifications, form of contract and a cost estimate for the project. The cost of the project is estimated to be $16.5 million.

They also had the second reading of the ordinances amending two city codes. The tabled item of a resolution of banning firearms in city buildings was discussed by the council. After discussion, Council member Bob Shepherd made a motion to retable the resolution.

The council voted 4 to 2 to not table the motion and the resolution does not move forward. The next City Council meeting will be a special meeting next Wednesday to discuss the leasing of 90 acres of city owned land.
