The Washington Demon girls basketball team has advanced in the postseason tournament with a win over Centerville. Hosting the Redettes on Saturday night, in a game heard on KCII, the Demons took the early lead and went into the second quarter up 12-9. In the first half Centerville had quite a bit of success with the pick and roll which allowed their post player Mallory Oden to score 17 in the first half. Washington led 30-29 at the break and adjusted in the second half holding Oden to five points in the second half. The Demons took a three point lead into the fourth and got it to a double digit lead late and then chewed some clock and hit key free throws to win 59-47.

The Demons now will face Davenport Assumption tomorrow in Tipton for the right to go to state. This is the second year in a row the Demons and Assumption meet in to go to state. Assumption won big last year.

The Lady Knights beat Keokuk 66-64 to advance. Assumption had a ten point lead with under two minutes to play but the Chiefs rallied and pulled within one. After a one for two trip at the line, Assumption had a two point lead and a fourteen footer to tie it with one second left missed giving Assumption the win.
