The snowfall we have received the last couple of days is not going to cause major flooding this spring.  Iowa State Climatologist Harry Hillaker says the moisture content in the last snowfall was low.  He says there is no extra concern from the recent snowfall.

Hillaker adds the snow from the blizzard earlier this month had higher moisture content and it is good news that snow had melted before the spring rains arrive.  He says the most likely area to see flooding this spring will be areas along the Mississippi River because there is still significant snow pack in Minnesota, Wisconsin and northeast Iowa.

Hillaker says the major question will be how widespread the flooding will be.  He says the National Weather Service will update their spring flooding outlook next week.
