The girls Class 2A basketball postseason got underway on Saturday. In a game heard on KCII, the Highland Huskies beat the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks 70-53. Highland jumped out to a 10-2 lead but the Golden Hawks fought back to make it 10-7. It was 12-7 going into the second quarter. At the end of the half the Golden Hawks inbounded a pass down court to Erika Murhpy who spun and hit a long two from just inside the arc at the buzzer to make it 38-31 at halftime. The Golden Hawks came out in the third and went on a run to pull within four but the Huskies responded and got it out to a ten point lead. They’d end up winning 70-53.

Highland is now 15-7 while Mid-Prairie ends up 7-15. Highland will now play Pella Christian tomorrow at Pekin High School. Pella Christian beat Pekin 71-39.
