The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks struggled with turnovers in the first half, which made it difficult for them to get on track the rest of the night against Iowa City Regina. In a game heard on KCII, the Regals benefited from early Mid-Prairie turnovers and led throughout the game. Mid-Prairie took a short lived lead in the second quarter, but the Regals got the lead back and went in at halftime up 30-24. The big point in the game came early in the second half as the Regals started on an 8-1 run to go up 38-25. It was a ten point game going into the last quarter 44-34. Late in the fourth the Golden Hawks had a chance to get within striking distance after a couple of quick Mid-Prairie buckets one off a steal, a Regal pass in the back court towards mid court was deflected, two Hawks went after it running into each other and a Regal came away with it. Afterward, Mid-Prairie Head Coach Don Showalter said that play kind of summed up the night. The Regals won 59-54. For Mid-Prairie:

Michael Aldeman 22 points
Jaemin Powell 10 points
Christian Swartzentruber 9 points

Mid-Prairie’s 6-6 center Dylan Hochstetler fractured a knuckle on his right hand against Highland and had it taped up last night, he played a little last night but was held scoreless. For Regina:

Ryan Lynch 16 points
Ross Westemeyer 11 points
George Sehl 8 points.
