The Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra is holding a concert tonight. Conductor Bob McConnell says this concert is to celebrate the Orchestra’s 60th Anniversary. He says as part of the Orchestra’s Winter Concert Series, they will be performing Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in d minor, Op. 125.
McConnell shares that this is the only piece written by Beethoven that contains vocal parts. He notes the vocals are not until the last movement of the symphony.
McConnell says musicians from all over southeastern Iowa will be performing in this symphony. The concert will be held at 7:30 tonight in the chapel auditorium at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant. For more information, click here.
