The Washington City Maintenance Department is ready for snow storms and they were ready for this one as well. Maintenance Department Supervisor JJ Bell says the city usually starts working on clearing the main streets in town when we have received approximately two to four inches of snow. He says they are currently working on clearing the major streets in town. Bell says they have cleared the travel lanes on Main Street through downtown. They have also cleared around the square. Bell says the snow piles currently located in the middle parking spaces on Main Street should be moved in the next couple of weeks. He says those snow piles get moved by the city pool. Bell says they will come in early tomorrow morning to continue to remove snow from around the square. He notes when they work on clearing the traffic lanes around the square they do have signs posted to alert everyone of the snow removal.
