The Washington County Board of Supervisors held their regular meeting yesterday morning and reviewed bids for the county secondary roads improvement projects. County Engineer David Patterson says they received 9 bids for work on Kiwi Avenue and 133rd Street. Patterson says the estimated cost for the paving part of this project was almost $1.3 million and a bid was awarded to Manatt’s Inc. from Brooklyn, Iowa of a little over $1 million.
He notes Manatt’s has done work for the county in the past and is pleased with their work. Patterson also mentions they had 6.7 miles of grading work as part of this project.
He says their estimate for the grading was a little over $1 million or $150,000 per mile. Patterson states 6 bids were submitted and Delong Construction of Washington received the award with a bid of just under $1 million.
Patterson says the late start date for this project will be May 1st of this year. Also during their meeting, the Supervisors acknowledged a donation to the Sheriff’s K-9 project of $500 from the Washington County Pork Producers.
Sheriff Jerry Dunbar notes this donation is one of the bigger donations they have received. The next Board of Supervisors meeting will be Monday, March 14th at 9:30 in the Washington County Courthouse.
