Two unbeatens in two different classes took the floor last night to continue that run and bring home a championship and one did. The state championship games for 1A and 2A were played in Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. In 1A, the undefeated and number one ranked Danville was facing 26-1 St. Mary’s out of Storm Lake. It was a one point game at halftime, but St. Mary’s got a 10 points lead and pulled away in the fourth to win 74-59. For St. Mary’s, Kennedy Drey averaged 13 points per game coming into the game, he ended up with 35 points last night.

In the 2A title game, West Fork faced two time defending state champs Western Christian, Hull. The two went to overtime with it tied at 52-52. In the extra period West Fork with their first possession ran quite a bit of clock off so there wasn’t a lot of scoring. On a drive, West Fork’s Seth Tuttle was able to get a layup and drew a foul. He went to the line and hit a big free throw to give the Warhawks a three point lead. West Fork won 60-56 to finish the season 27-0.
