Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack is announcing the next general signup period for the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). He says this signup period, which begins today is the second year for this general signup offered by the USDA. Secretary Vilsack says support for CRP has grown because of a strong backing from farmers, ranchers, conservationists, hunters, fishermen and other outdoor sports enthusiasts.
He says CRP has contributed to the national effort to improve water and air quality, as well as has preserved habitat for wildlife and prevented soil erosion by protecting the most sensitive areas including those prone to flash flooding and runoff. For more information, click here.
