The Washington Relays went on despite the cooler temperatures, and a couple of old meet records fell including one set in 1976. In the 1600 meter run Ottumwa’s Kevin Lewis shattered the record set by Fort Madison’s Shawn Allen, the previous record was 4:30, Lewis beat it by nine seconds running 4:21, in fact the top three last night beat the previous meet record. Also in the 800, Burlington’s Ben Witt went 1:58 beating the 1:59 record set by Fort Madison’s Ed Delashmutt in 1976. Looking at the team places:
