The state legislature ended “Funnel Week” Thursday and both Senator Sandy Greiner and Representative Jarad Klein say it was very productive week. Funnel Week is a special week in the legislative session for establishing a cut off date of when bills have to come out of committees. This deadline is created for the purpose of trimming down bills to be considered by the legislature.
During this week, bills had to be approved by committees for the bill to remain eligible for further consideration. Senator Sandy Greiner says she did not have any extra meetings this week to meet the deadlines and was completed by 3:00 Thursday afternoon. She says the full Senate will now debate the bills and send them on to the House of Representatives.
Representative Jarad Klein says he also had a productive week and many bills were sent out of committees. He says he is looking forward to working on the bills the Senate is sending to the House for review. If a bill passes both chambers without any revisions, it is passed along to Governor Brandstad for signature.
